    Learn from anywhere with national and international domain experts. The program concludes with a practicum in which participants will coach a volunteer client for 4-6 weeks and submit written and audio files of their coaching session for evaluation.

    The program is divided into weekly modules that consist of the following:

    • Pre-recorded lectures by Ms. Preeti Rao (M.A., M.S.)
    • Reading material, latest research, and coaching tools
    • Online discussions with other enrolled class participants
    • Live video-conference demonstrations by NBHWC, USA certified mentor coaches, and experts on real life challenges and health concerns faced by health & wellness coaches

    Learning Objectives:

    • Define health, health promotion, disease prevention, and applying a whole-person perspective.
    • Identify five major risk factors (sedentary lifestyle, obesity, smoking, stress, and poor nutrition) and their proximal causes for most common chronic conditions (obesity, hypertension, and diabetes).
    • Understand the basic availability, usage, and interpretation of 6 standard biometric measures, lab and screening tests, including B.P., BMI, fasting glucose, HgbA1C, lipid panels, and inflammatory markers.

    Understand evidence-based suggestions for:

    • Optimizing nutrition and healthy weight.
    • Understand the basics of a healthy diet—unprocessed (or minimally processed) whole foods, lean proteins (heavily plant-based), adequate fiber, mono- and poly-unsaturated fats, fruits, and vegetables.
    • Recognize current evidence-based nutritional interventions for the top, most prevalent health conditions—obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
    • Discuss controversial nutritional issues and be able to analyze the current research regarding these issues.
    • Be familiar with the frameworks for a healthy diet, using both the conventional approach to nutrition and the evolving framework of integrative nutrition, which considers the understanding of dietary effects on the inflammatory response underlying most chronic disease conditions.

    Activity

    • Know current recommendations for healthy adult exercise in aerobics, flexibility, strength/endurance, and balance.
    • Be versed in various ways to generally increase one’s daily activities level apart from conventional exercise.

    Sleep

    • Basic understanding of sleep and the essential role it plays in overall health and well-being.
    • Be familiar with common recommendations for healthy sleep hygiene.

    Enhancing Emotional Wellness

    • Basic understanding of emotional intelligence and its importance in healthy management of relationships with self and others.
    • Be a professional life coach with several tools and practices for fostering emotional awareness and agility in clients and self.
    • Life coaching on how a sense of purpose or life meaning impacts health.

    Reducing Behavioural Risk Factors

    • Basic understanding of sleep and the essential role it plays in overall health and well-being.
    • Know when and how to make appropriate professional referrals for clients whose dynamic risk behaviors exceed the scope and practice of coaching.

    Stress Management

    • Basics of the physiology of stress and stress management.
    • Ability to apply and teach several healthy mind-body practices, such as breathwork, mindfulness, imagery, relaxation techniques.
    • Preventing illness and chronic conditions related to lifestyles, such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

    The Weljii Health & Wellness Coach training & certification program follows the standards and guidelines set forth by the NBHWC, USA.

    Wellness Jiva Private Limited - “Health and Wellness Coach Program” has been awarded Pending Approval status by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). These programs meet all the requirements for the NBHWC full approval but have not yet graduated a cohort.

    Those who complete this training are eligible for the U.S. NBHWC Health & Wellness Coach Board Certification Examination.

    Eligibility :

    • A passion for health and wellness
    • Preferably graduate in any discipline but not mandatory/minimum 4000 hrs of industry experience in any field
    • Excellent spoken and written English
